Unit of Siddha Medicine, Trincomalee Campus has been upgraded to the status of a Faculty of Siddha Medicine according to a gazette notification dated 14.06.2023. The ceremonial opening of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine Monument took place on 18.08.2023 at 9:00 am at the Trincomalee campus.
Prof. V. Kanagasingam, Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University Sri Lanka, presided over the event. Prof. (Mrs.) C. G. Devadasan, Rector of Trincomalee Campus, EUSL, Mrs. J.J. Muralitharan, Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Eastern Provincial Council, and Dr. (Mrs.) R. Srithar, Provincial Commissioner of Ayurveda at the Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine, Eastern Province, were among the distinguished guests who attended the event.
Prof. S. Sutharsan, the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, along with numerous dignitaries, heads of departments, and lecturers, attended and were honored.
The event commenced with the garlanding of the statue of Saint Agasthiyar, regarded as the father of Siddha Medicine, followed by the dedication of the Siddha Medicine Faculty through interfaith ceremonies.
