Welcome to the Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine

 

Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs) for the Faculties of Eastern University, Sri Lanka were established as per the University’s Quality Monitoring & Enhancement Unit (QMEU) policy. As per the UGC Circular No. 09/2019, IQACs were renamed as Faculty Quality Assurance Cells (FQACs).

 

The Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) serves as a basis for upholding and advancing academic excellence at the Faculty of Siddha Medicine (FSM), Trincomalee Campus, EUSL. FQAC/FSM is striving to elevate the quality of degree programmes through regular assessment, feedback mechanisms, and collaborative efforts.

 

The Faculty of Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine at Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University Sri Lanka, was established and commenced its functions in 2021 as an IQAC, jointly functioning with the Faculty of Applied Science. Later, it was upgraded into a faculty and operated as FQAC in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Quality Assurance Council of the UGC

 

FQAC has a broad mandate of coordinating all the quality assurance related activities within the faculty under the guidance with the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of the Eastern University in line with the UGC circular 04/2015.

The FQAC/IQAC of a Faculty of Study is responsible for developing the guidelines relating to the quality assurance activities of the faculty and overseeing the implementation of such activities.

 

These activities will revolve around the following aspects.

  • Curriculum development, management and review
  • Teaching, learning and assessment methods
  • Learning environment (learning opportunities, resources and locations)
  • Academic staff (staff training, upgrading knowledge and skills, student and peer observation, reflection etc.)
  • Administrative staff (general administration and documentation)
  • Student support services (including academic guidance and counseling)
  • Students (including student progress and their achievements)

To guide and facilitate the activities of FQAC/IQAC, an operating guideline has been prepared by CQA. The composition of the FQAC/IQAC should be determined by each faculty based on the structure and the nature of activities out of the faculty. However, it is highly recommended to adhere to a common format that will facilitate easy and effective communications among different departments/ units/boards of study of the faculty and between Faculty FQAC/IQAC and the CQA-EUSL.
